Beautiful! I was gonna post that someone who knows how to do this sort of thing ought to make an animated gif of the last three panels. The only thing better would be if the bird rose interminably slowly to the music that opens that long panning shot of the imperial cruiser at the beginning of Empire Strikes Back.

This comment, even with 57 chubbies, is underrated.
biiaru » neu2 years ago
Can you make it go up, stay there for about 3 seconds, and then go back down again?
You know, just for the OCDs (like me) who would rather have it loop perfectly.
stuart » neu2 years ago
I did it with the gun but i eschewed it here because it didn't make any sense for lyle to be bobbing the bird in mr. bear's face
jollysaintpete » neu2 years ago
i think you were correct in this assumption
mr_pete » neu3 years ago
Lyle is being rude but Mr. Bear is being pompous. There are no winners.
kledermans » neu2 years ago
Pompous? Hell, he's just stating the facts and his opinion. He can't help it if he happens to be better than Lyle.
ghotifish » con2 years ago
this is a lie. we are the winners.
lux » neu2 years ago
hee, I love your name. Are you also a linguistics student? Ghoti is the best way to spell fish.
catachresis » neu3 years ago
You are a hero. And also a complete and utter loser. You are Schrodinger's personality assessment.
alejandroadam » neu3 years ago
you just sneek it up. from below the line of sight real slow. in complete silence. works every time.

You mean "O Fortuna"? Nah. Imitationcrab hit it out of the park on the first pitch.

I've seen someone take the last three panels, and animate it as their avatar. Gets me every time!

The 'Lyle/Cornelius' rift is mostly a class struggle. It's more socio-economic than cultural.
dougthehead » pro3 years ago
We don't get enough Lyle v. Cornelius. I don't know if we can.
deancain29 » pro3 years ago
classic Lyle.
achewoodno1fan » neu3 years ago
lol c~bear is sitting on a doily-chair
jujubeesforjesus » neu3 years ago
And Lyle is moving through the room, agitated by drink.

to this day my wife and i give each other the slo-mo finger.
which must always begin out of sight, only to rise from behind a table, pillow, or nearby cat.
tekende » neu2 years ago
Or, if necessary, the bottom line of the panel.

Chubbied for breaking INTO the forth wall.

The Sally Forth wall?

Why do I laugh at this every time? Why?
killerlimpet » neu3 years ago
I used to think like Mr. Bear.
And then I actually *read* some peoples' livejournals and xangas.
ouch.

From the beginning of the 6th panel to the end of the 8th, I just said "Yesssssssss!"

Lyle straight don't care about no one!

Oh God. Panel 7.
dipstikk » neu1 years ago
Chubbied for having a birdlike deinonychus avatar.
johnmatrix » neu2 years ago
Is he raising his finger up really slow or are we seeing it in slow motion?
Regardless, it's funny. Try picturing it with that old fashioned low "rrrrrrr" sound that happens on cartoons when something is being slowly raised up.
qeramah » neu2 years ago
haha yeah, lyle probably has hell of hydraulics in his flippin' arm.
dasuta » pro2 years ago
OH THE INTENSITY!
nyu » neu2 years ago
If Lyle has 4 fingers, which one is the middle?
redmange » neu2 years ago
Well, the thumb isn't exactly a finger, so I guess he would go by the idea of the finger between his pinky and index being his -birdy-.
wonelove » pro2 years ago
Hahahaha.
I love how Lyle slowly brings it up.
a big "up yours" rising from the bottom of the strip, right into Cornelius' face.
woodenteeth » neu2 years ago
Once again Lyle reveals a little more info than his otherwise scattered blogs would have you believe he would be able to retain.
i.e. "Do your server logs..."
I'm building a thesis on this... ok, not really.
mikeronomicon » neu1 years ago
I don't know what it is, but the finger always makes me jam the five button.
