Why this doesn't have more chubbies is beyond me.

You will see that it is, at time of this writing, only four days old. If people are so kind as to give that a chubby, it will most likely be gradually done.

this is the first Achewood strip I ever saw.

It was one of the first strips I've seen. To be honest, I was Teodor in the last panel after reading it.

I think if I could choose the first strip i saw, this would probably be it.

Seriously. It is such a perfect introduction.

The sad part is that someday this will be the thesis statement of a six-part philosophical treatise called 'Saint's Meditations on Humour"

The way the last six panels plays out is brilliant. No need for words.

It does take all five dialogueless panels to transition the reader from a mental state that understands what is going on, to Teodor's state.

as funny as it is like this, i would still love to hear the dialogue between beef and ray after the third ounce is poured.

There is no dialogue worth reporting, simply grunts, whoops and groans. A man should not have to hear that from another man.

Well, I bet panel 9 is just Ray yelling "RAAAAAAAAD!!"

Panel 8 is clearly "Yeah man! We doin' this!"

Panel 8 alone is a fairly accurate representation of Achewood in general.

I like to think that long after we're dead, this will be remembered. That statement is about as true as a statement can be.

Ray shows signs of addiction no later than 4 ounces in. This is a new and terrifying drug that is sweeping the youth and felines. Mostly felines.

Sorry, I'm going through these things right now and not paying a ton of attention to the time stamps. If the observation is no longer accurate then consider it cheerfully rescinded.

Nowadays I mostly imply that I had sex with someone and still say that I say the strip all the time but now I phrase it differently so that it doesn't get lamed out as quickly.

I do. The comments often add so much to the strips that it would be a shame to pass them over.

Go to Gunnerkrig Court. Read some of the comments on any given strip.
Gouge out your eyes and come running to the bastion of worldly intellectualism that is Acheworld.
It's a moronic wankfest as opposed to the fascinating and valuable wankfest here, and I've seen the same thing on other comics that enable comments.
Gunnerkrig Court is a superb bit of work, so it isn't just the quality of the comic reflecting in the comments.
I'd guess it's the intellectual flair of Achewood (I feel kind of silly but kind of awesome saying this when the specific strip I'm commenting under portrays a cat having water poured into a cup on a cantilever attached to his groin, while an alive stuffed bear watches in bewilderment.

Me. I've just discovered Achewood and have read through the whole archive (well, I'm up to here now), and I tend to read most of the comments. In fact, the main reason I signed up was because the curiosity of what was containted in all the comments that had been lamed out of existence was becoming too great.

It's true, I'm only yet up to here, and reading the comments often adds quite a lot to the strip - and often explains alot, too.

A friend recommended Achewood to me (I know, passive voice), and I accidentally clicked 'discuss' three strips in. I signed up because somebody said something to which I wanted to reply. So, as I go through the archives, it is also my first time seeing the strips. I am a n00b of the worst sort.

I've been reading Achewood for a really long time, but this is my first sequential re-tread through the archives since the whole assetbar thing happened.\

And yeah, the comments sometimes totally make it.

That clause wasn't in the passive voice at all.

You're right, the passive voice would be "Achewood was recommened to me by a friend".

I signed up to see the lamed comments too and I'm glad I'm reading it in the assetbar there are some things I miss that are revealed in the comments, and I wouldn't be able to read the blogs sequentially at all.

Also to Gunnerkrigg's credit you can't read comments unless they are from THAT day, there is no comments archive, so if you are reading through it for the first time you are spared the idiocy.

I don't even bother with the comments on the newer strips as there is almost immediately 500 of them and most of them are completely irrelevant to the strip or achewood itself.

Yea I've noticed that, I'm in the last year of the archives and either because I'm burned out on comments or something I just don't read them as much....

I think the energy went out of everyone by then, having raced back through the archives for the first year, catching up to the present day, that took a lot of energy. Many of the early posters seem to have vanished. Are you looking at the new strips as they are posted?

I am one of the folks known to contribute many non-strip-related comments in the current day, and I am wending my way through the archives once more, to read the old comments and make contributions.
Though in the current strips I often scroll past vast wastelands of posts I have no interest in, there are many many nuggets of pure gold to be mined in nearly every strip's posts. I encourage you to mine them.

The look on Ray's face in the 12th panel is sheer gold. It looks like someone took an ice cream cone away from him, or something of that caliber/

The only thing that can really improve upon Achewood: the scientific method.

Ray's facial expressions in panels eleven & twelve demonstrate exactly what it feels like to have a completely trashy orgasm taken away from you.

Apparently at least one other person has seen this and deemed it grossly unnecessary. Besides the utter grossness of what you refer to, historicity demands that we consider this comic in the time that it was written, a better time when such things didn't exist on the planet.
