goddamn that boy comes from hell of circumstances
tekende » neu 2 years ago
Yeah, maybe he read the atl text, eh?
tekende » neu 2 years ago
Oh crap! I meant "alt text."

Shit.

Good call. The weapon that made us effective hunters.
weretrout » neu 6 months ago
What, anthrax?
lolsworth » neu 9 months ago
What we see in the last panel is almost beyond mere circumstances, quite frankly
brosaurus » neu 1 weeks ago
You know someone's from beyond circumstances when the very mention of their infancy causes them to seize up and go blank. This is a tragedy.
phthoggos » neu 2 years ago
I'm pretty sure that ladybug is not meant to be a nipple
ferdinand » neu 2 years ago
my god, if i had a nickel for every time i said that...
saru » pro 2 years ago
... Well? How many nickels would you have!? Don't leave us hangin' here bro!
semiquaver » neu 2 years ago
...you would spend all day saying that and receiving nickels as a result
geysershitdick » neu 2 years ago
The nipples you've seen must have come from hell of circumstances.
carlyle » neu 9 months ago
Oh god.
farqussus » neu 2 years ago
I think you mean the drawing of a bug does not in any way look like a nipple.
darkwaffle » pro 2 years ago
The last panel is so wonderfully twisted. My jaw literally dropped.
soticoto » pro 2 years ago
Instant 5 for that alone.
And a chubby for you.
c4keman » neu 1 years ago
Never has a webcomic caused my heart to sink. Figures Roast Beef's childhood flashbacks would do it to me... :(
alejandroadam » pro 2 years ago
is future dead person a cat and girl referance? probably not.
rotating-dog » neu 2 years ago
Thats what I thought.
rotating-dog » neu 2 years ago
Clarification - i DID think it was a reference. Damn, I hate this no editing your posts thing. sorry people
geysershitdick » neu 2 years ago
It's a reference to the common baby onesies that say "Future scientist" or "Future teacher" or whatever.

mercuri0us » neu 7 months ago
I wish, no-one would have fucked with me at kindergarten if I'd worn those.
mangtastic » neu 4 months ago
You wore onesies in kindergarten??
bluemoon72 » neu 5 months ago
I wouldn't buy that fake punk bullcrap, but T-Shirt Hell used to have one with a camo print and a helicopter, with a M*A*S*H-style font that said "Yeah, I was in the shit." If I ever have a baby, I would totally get that for him or her.
hipjiverobot » neu 2 years ago
I think Lie Bot was wrong, this is the saddest thing.
wehavemagnums » neu 2 years ago
Beef's...

Folks are thrilled that you hate yourself.
heccibiggs » neu 1 years ago
Assetbar users have a strong sense of self-flagellation.
c_dizzle » pro 1 years ago
When I was 10 my dad accidentally called me "Tim" when saying goodnight to me. There isn't a Tim in my ENTIRE family. I have no idea where he got that.
goatmasterflash » neu 1 years ago
maybe Tim was the boy your dad was seein' on the side. Or maybe it was just an honest mistake.
greenkoolayd » neu 7 months ago
what does that have to do with anything?
thicker » pro 2 years ago
If I ever go to a shrink the first thing I will do is show them this strip and say "my problem is that I think panel 3 is extremely goddamn hilarious, please help me"
syrinx » neu 2 years ago
the last panel is probably the saddest thing I've ever seen. Also, beef had hair?
i_love_kate » neu 1 years ago
It's less worrying if you think that it is hair, yes. I personally believe it to be something somewhat... darker.
benthecartoon » pro 1 years ago
I was just thinking the exact same thing. I was frightened.

"Is that hair? Or.... Oh my God..."
nutmeg » neu 2 years ago
"future dead person" haha man i would put all my children in that thing it is hilarious.
ocarinak » pro 2 years ago
What makes this is Beef's expressions. All extremely giddy line eyes in panel four, all completely frozen in panel 7.
deusoma » pro 2 years ago
Yessir, that horribly blank look as he spirals back down Awful Memory Lane makes the strip.
zapatos » neu 1 years ago
The action lines, as though he were recently pole axed.
tinhand » neu 2 years ago
FUTURE DEAD PERSON. As a shirt.
Seriously, I would buy it. It's funny because it's true, we are all future dead people.
alejandroadam » neu 2 years ago
go to catandgirl.com they sell the shirt there.
neoboman » pro 2 years ago
While I find most of these things funny, this is one of the only ones that made me laugh out loud, thanks to the last panel.
deancain29 » neu 2 years ago
Onstad's psychosis is clearly emerging.
cousinted » pro 2 years ago
The cat's girlfriend accidently undoes years of painful repression.

cousinted » pro 2 years ago
I don't like where that arrow's pointing
connellingus » pro 2 years ago
I e-mailed Chris to tell him that I would totally buy a "Future Dead Person" baby onesie, and lamentably he replied that it was pretty unlikely that they would produce it.
asumoactingbig » pro 2 years ago
"Pretty unlikely" is no excuse not to try
bhlaab » pro 2 years ago
this is the best one
_cheesekayke » pro 2 years ago
This might be the saddest Achewood strip of all time...
optimistprime » neu 2 years ago
This is my single favorite one-off achewood strip. Just sayin'.
clever-nickname » neu 2 years ago
This one went from funny to funny and depressing.
nicolae » pro 2 years ago
Check and mate, Molly.
johnmatrix » pro 2 years ago
Is that a piece of poop at the bottom of the bag?
nicolae » neu 2 years ago
It's his foot
johnmatrix » neu 2 years ago
Ah, I see it now.
quantumcasaba » neu 2 years ago

luckypyjamas » neu 2 years ago
beef's mouth in panel three

and four
quantumcasaba » neu 2 years ago
It took me awhile to realize for whom they were buying baby clothes.
In my defense, I read this for the first time two months ago so I missed a lot of the strip-to-life involvement.
Yet this is my shame.
Gub.
lordhumungus » pro 2 years ago
This strip explains more about Beef than all others combined.

I include all future strips in this sweeping generalization.
nikopol » pro 2 years ago
I particularly love the way that Beef's entire body locks up as the memories come back to him.
notthatyoudknow » pro 2 years ago
Molly takes offense at the second one since she has been a dead person before.
dropkickpikachu » neu 2 years ago
As a counterpoint, so has Beef.
wittyname » pro 2 years ago
Molly does have more experience being dead, but Beef has died more than her.

Either way, no one wins.
zapatos » neu 1 years ago
They are both alive now, so they both have won.
juanclaudius » neu 2 years ago
This was my first. It's so beautiful.

Also, baby Beef has hell of gangly legs.
chewy » neu 2 years ago
Hell of sad and poignant, yo.
c_dizzle » pro 2 years ago
I think I saw that last panel on Animal Precinct.

And if I ever become crazy enough to think I can rear a child, I'm definitely buying it a "Future Dead Person" onesie.
rocketman » pro 2 years ago

cpnglxynchos » neu 2 years ago
five'd for 'future dead person.'
and..the horrible flashback to Beef's kid-hood.
gussiejives » neu 2 years ago
It's a step up from Dempster's I suppose.

Today's Blogs

Roast Beef: TiVo
Pat: Garbagemen.
mangtastic » neu 4 months ago
The only reason I can actually read Pat's blogs is that I know he is a fictional character. If he were a real person I would be too disgusted.
redmange » neu 2 years ago
There needs to be a onesie section in the shop. Not of these onesie's. Just onesie versions of Roast Beef's self derogatory shirts. I for one would happily buy a -I am the guy who sucks. Also, I have depression.- Onesie for my child, and let them sport it as I wear my "GOD DAMMIT WHAT AM I GOING TO DO ABOUT MY PROBLEMS" T.
charchar » neu 1 years ago

"So what if ___ is food, I ain't buggin" has entered the vernacular.
mrectomy » pro 1 years ago
Leaving a comment here so I can come back to it easily. I'm probably gonna get a tattoo of Beef holding the 'future dead person' onesie. That's just too good.
johnmatrix » neu 1 years ago
Beef's hair doesn't really look like hair. It looks more like a pile of sludge on his head.
tarranon » neu 10 months ago
This strip makes me feel claustrophobic and short of breath at the last panel.
Every.
Single.
Time.
carlyle » neu 9 months ago
I realized Beef is techinally bald.
hausea » neu 6 months ago
I've read this strip so many times and this is the first time I noticed that baby Cassandra is not in fact in the rain but merely squirming on the wood floor.
greenkoolayd » neu 5 months ago
PANEL 6: oh no you dont, molly. oh now you dont.
sarsbar » neu 4 months ago
Oh god... this is some seriously depressing shit. I need a drink.
