I wonder if this was a subconscious reference to Mr. Show's "Wicked Sceptre" sketch.

Onstad himself in an interview said that Mr. Show is like an apogee of comedy so I'm sure that this was a 'wicked' (see what I did there?) send up of the magic of Bob and David.

I'd like to point out that Ray refers to "back in his party days". Why should we think these AREN'T Ray's party days? I mean...two arcs of this strip are ray throwing/attending parties. All he does is leisure.

Now that he charges all parties to his record label, his leisure is considered business. It's a tax thing.

If Ray doesn't think these days are his party days, his party days must've been dayum good.
