Great strip. Such motion.

Gothic Dance! Gothic Dance!
Every-body, Gothic Dance!
chrissketch » neu 6 months ago
I am awestruck and mesmerized. If you animated this, you deserve chubbies^23. If not, then chubby for bringing to our attention.
cousinted » neu 6 months ago
I am afraid I cannot claim this as my handiwork and I fear its creator may be lost to the ages. But dear god if it isn't awesome.
stormagnet » neu 5 months ago
The.. the belly! It sways so hypnotically!
gusplease » pro 1 years ago
The very best Achewood.
lateadopter » neu 1 years ago
There's a link right on the main page of Achewood, under "Dork Resources."
deimosrising » pro 1 years ago
He is a famous horror actor from the first half of the 20th century best known for playing Dracula on stage and in the most famous black and white versionof the film.
slalvation » neu 8 months ago
Haha, "Up yours, Pascal."

Up yours, Fortran.

Up yours, Tcl/Tk.
jamers » neu 1 years ago
Dude was just trying to understand the strip at a deeper level. Far be it from us to shame him about that.
zefiel » pro 1 years ago
well yes, but his language about it could've been a bit more subdued. Also, Lugosi defined the modern Dracula. (erasing Shrek's more awesome Nosferatu in the process, sadly) Anyway, Wikipedia is just a click away. I'm not even from america, and I get most of the achewood humor.
fineoakstructure » pro 8 months ago
zefiel - sorry for the grammar nazi tone, but you gotta be careful with that name: it's Max Schrek, with the "c". Thinking that anything having to do with "Shrek" is awesome is just sacreligious.
xiaomimi » neu 8 months ago
(Schreck)
fineoakstructure » neu 8 months ago
Awww fuck. See, this is why we work as a community (and why I normally don't correct spelling).
charchar » neu 5 months ago
Trivia Time! Shreck is German for fight or terror and is indeed his given name.
charchar » neu 5 months ago
God-- for fright not Fight.
jezebel » neu 2 months ago
Huh. Yeah. I was a little confused. I thought there was some deeper meaning in a Scottish green ogre that I missed.
tragicone » neu 7 months ago
Ahhh, Count Orlok was a different type of vampire than Dracula. Orlok was a nosferatu race and Dracula is probably a Ventrue. Different people broham!
fineoakstructure » neu 7 months ago
The reason why Count Orlok was different than Dracula was because Bram Stoker's widow, I believe, was going to sue Murnau if he tried to make his vampire movie based too closely on the book. Anything else is just silly.
twohundredninety » neu 11 months ago
It was probably a different set of people each time -- the people who lamed your comment would probably neither chubby nor lame jamers', and the people who chubbied his would probably neither chubby nor lame yours.
choosebro » neu 9 months ago
Cause you're being kind of a dick, while Jamers was being a proper chap.

Anyway, it's your responses that deserve the lames, not the first enquiry.
saint » neu 9 months ago
i suppose you're right.
my bad guys.
morypcaina » neu 7 months ago
...and you'd have to reload anyway, to see the replies...
heccibiggs » neu 5 months ago
And also wait however long, probably at least a day, until someone did reply. Soooo...
snowman » neu 3 months ago
The real issue is, they only told you half the story. The joke here is that Ray's crotch is playing "Bela Lugosi's Dead," a song by early goth band Bauhaus. Now you know.
lechatbotte » neu 3 weeks ago
Who's Bauhaus?

(Just Kidding!) :>
lechatbotte » neu 3 weeks ago
Seriously, I'm old enough to remember them the first time around!
rowboat » pro 8 months ago
To not know is fine. To ask a bunch of hateful nerds (like me) instead of just googling it is a dangerous game, fraught with peril. And yes, it is lame. I realize that saint may be from, like, Tajikistan, or some place where there's no sunlight, grass or women, let alone a video store. But home boy's got the internets, so asking was just lazy and wrong and he deserves the worst we can give. On the other hand, it should be noted that I didn't lame him. Tajikistanis got enough problems without my low opinions added, you know? He's probably got a truck full of opium and preteen brides-to-be to get across the Afghani border before supper time, so, you know, he's got other things on his mind.
saint » neu 8 months ago
you made me laugh, in spite of myself.
HOWEVER, first, I want you to read the post just one above yours. Next, I want you to read the post two before that. Thank you.

And, for the record, they are ALL over the age of 13. Sicko.
turnabout » neu 1 years ago
The joke here is that the Bauhaus song plays. Look up Bauhaus for more deeper meanings for this strip.
mat4900 » pro 1 years ago
I really enjoyed this strip, it sums up Achewood humor for me so well. I'm really surprised it hasn't been rated higher.

You had better not be lying. God DAMN you you had better not.
twotonturkey » pro 1 years ago
I would've thought that Hot Topic would have picked up on it first.
bixschmix » neu 5 months ago
That would finally convince me to buy something at Spencer Gifts or Hot Topic. And oh, buy it I would.
senseihollywood » neu 1 years ago
somethings wrong here: my crotch-skull only plays "Panama"
tellumo » neu 8 months ago
SO not goth!
sneechles » neu 7 months ago
oh man... crotch-skull...

I smell a marketing opportunity
ford » neu 3 months ago
dude don't be smelling crotch skulls that is hell of raunchy
nurdbot » pro 1 years ago
I really hope at some point, the store sells those skull things. I want to prance around telling people with my crotch that Legosi, is indeed dead.
tombsgrave » neu 1 years ago
This strip led me to buy Bela Lugosi's Dead off of iTunes.

I confess, I like it in an extremely unironic way. Does that make me uncool?
godfatherofsouls » pro 1 years ago
not at all, man
tekende » pro 3 months ago
I like it too. I have liked it since the first time I heard, as a young man of 18. This was in 2002.
never_die » neu 1 years ago
Ray is hell of enjoying the Gothic Dance.
sp1derbaby » neu 3 months ago
He should be changing more lightbulbs.
technicolor » pro 1 years ago
while the crotch skull is the loveliest of assets in this particular strip, i am quite partial to the three-dimensional skull glasses ray has.
sherief » neu 1 years ago
Do you think the skull fits on to ray's exiting thong? Or is that an entirely diffferent thong?
the_doz » neu 9 months ago
I like to think of it as sort of a "thong peripheral".

zeroasalimit » neu 1 years ago
Do you reckon it plays the full thing? Also, how come Ray hasn't marketed these musical thongs yet?
nonemorenegative » pro 10 months ago
Y'know, for anyone with much sack, Halloween isn't far off... The Goth Bootsy Collins look could be an outrageous party hit :)
quantumcasaba » neu 9 months ago
That is spectacular. If I were to do something like that I would also wear cat ears, to be myself as Ray as such.

I just noticed that the king chochacho has been replaced by an ankh.

Super sack close up!

You can guarantee that skull is made from that cream-coloured plastic, that glows green in the dark...

Quote:
"...when your frontman goes, the rest of the band is essentially hosed."

It seems like Teodor would mention something about Joy Division, here. As I see it, New Order are the only exception to the above stated rule, in that they became even better after the loss of Ian Curtis. It seems like Teodor would agree with that.
sp1derbaby » neu 3 months ago
This is true basically because Bernard Sumner didn't dance.
lechatbotte » neu 3 weeks ago
Genesis may also be an example. You either love them before Gabriel left, or after, but few like both. Any rate, Collins gave them more commercial success, which doesn't mean pifle.
snowman » con 3 months ago
So YOU'RE the one who invented that!
milkpants » pro 2 months ago
why is this not rated a 5
fineoakstructure » neu 2 months ago
No, nobody vote on this strip ever again, because as of right now, as I'm looking at this, it reads

Votes: 666

No kidding.
