If your internet is down you can't connect to a WAP.

The bullet in his spine merely allows him to connect to said WAP.

Maybe he couldn't stand using it because it was too slow.

This is one of the best Beef freak-outs because I could see it happening to me...to a lesser degree.

Every joke needs a bit of truth and an exaggeration on the truth.

I can imagine Roast Beef relating well with Toothepaste For Dinner. all hell of dejected.

Except for Beef is funny on more than a biannual basis, unlike Toothpaste for Dinner.

I like older Toothpaste for Dinner. Same with Married to the Sea.

Nope. The earlier strips (up to 100 or so) were really grating; like you I thught it was too sugary. For example, the boy in a barrel looking for his mommy was NOT entertaining; about 1/3 of the way through the catalgue the comic hits it's stride, I think. 200-now has some real gems; I get a good laugh out of about every other strip.

At least he doesn't read the god-awful hipster soap opera that is Questionable Content.

I actually like Questionable Content, mostly because it introduces me to new bands, for instance, the Fiery Furnaces. And to a lesser extent, because the soap opera aspects are nauseatingly addictive.

I went for a week without internet while moving into my new apartment...I went through that exact same anxious fear before the cable guy came to install the modem. Bullet to the base of the skull.

Yeah, I can't really see Beef as all that into Forteana -- all hell of weird, all contradicting his basically scientific mind. But maybe it's like airshow disasters, and he reads it because it feeds his anxiety.
