This is how most campaign managers end their day, I'd imagine.
alejandroadam » neu 2 years ago
this is not true. Bust pretends to be a retard from the south. he is as New England pure blood Ivy Leauge as Kerry and Clinton and all the rest. he just saw the need and filled it.
killerlimpet » neu 2 years ago
yeah- If he didn't, people might talk about his policies rather than his mannerisms.
oddrid » neu 2 years ago
Wait, so why can't he be a retard from New England?
killerlimpet » neu 2 years ago
Zinn-Chomsky '08?
sexualhomeboy » neu 2 years ago
Wrong. Some of us can have political disagreements without constantly arguing or becoming deranged anytime an issue in the neighborhood of politics comes up.
fermatprime » neu 1 years ago
Meh, I'm fairly conservative by many standards but I'd hope that intelligent people all over the political spectrum can agree that pretending to be stupid/incompetent for political gain is much worse than actually being stupid/incompetent.
radarjammer » pro 1 years ago
Reminds me of a Hicks joke: a waffle waitress in the heartland was extemely curious what he was reading "for".
stuart » neu 2 years ago
Yeah, you're going to be considered lame for disliking a president with a, what, 20% approval rate?
dj_douche » neu 1 years ago
Done and done. Because if there's anything the internet needs, it's more politics. Yay!!!!
cailetshadow » neu 2 years ago
The former places the onus on the people who elected him.
The latter places the onus on the people who elected him.

:p

George Bush is actually a performance artist, who has come to the end of his 8-year installment, "The 43rd Presidency of the United States"
jocelynthepink » neu 2 years ago
Clinton is not New England pure blood, at all.
alejandroadam » neu 2 years ago
he is a rhodes scholar that attened Yale and Oxford. as well as a member of at least two faturnites that are undoubtly new england based. this is a pretty enormous connetion to the new england ivy leauge culture and soceity that has been the ruling class in the US from the begining of it all. but yes in SOME sense clinton isn't a 'pure blood' whatever that is. lol (the ivy leauge thing is more what I was pointing at not that he was a vanderbuilt)
laserblade » neu 1 years ago
Georgetown, I believe. Gore went to Vandy.
joamiq » neu 1 years ago
So . . . being a Rhodes Scholar who went to Yale and Oxford is somehow a bad thing? If that's what we think, we're in bad shape.
farqussus » neu 1 years ago
God forbid the people running a nation be well educated.
alejandroadam » neu 1 years ago
not that he did well in school that he went to an ivy leage school. it's a connection to a culture and way of life most americans have no connection to, or relation to. is all I'm saying. it's not unique to Cliton. all our presidents have been involved in it from what I understand. it's not a critisim it's a observation.
epicurus » pro 2 years ago
The contrast between the last panel and the rest is awesome.
hollis » neu 2 years ago
Do you think Roast Beef is in some way jealous of Philippe's happy-go-lucky nature, even if it means the inevitable ruin of his presidential campaign?
semiquaver » pro 2 years ago
Yes.
antsama » neu 2 years ago

No!
tinhand » neu 2 years ago
I love how all the characters take Philippes shot at presidency seriously, wheras most adults would consider it a little game if their kids said they were running for president.
lizjones » pro 2 years ago
Philippe appears to be dressed as an English schoolboy.
neoboman » neu 2 years ago
I was thinking a McDonalds employee, but that too.
aliiis » neu 1 years ago
I was thinking a schoolboy, but I am English. How droll!

(note: I don't think schoolboys have actually worn those hats for a good 40 years)
sex_bicycle » neu 1 years ago
my ex flatmate (went to boarding school) has one of those hats so yeah they're still around
centipede_damascus » pro 2 years ago
Philipe is so happy that he did not do what Roast Beef asked.
darthemed » pro 2 years ago
Oh Beef.
You know that it is most certainly not rad to have alcoholism.
pitseleh » pro 2 years ago
You know, I did read this strip whilst listening to "Stars and Stripes Forever" and it really does add a certain ambiance.

"Tuck me in and be my breakfast" works not only on JD, but on any lady-friend worth keeping.
riazm » neu 2 years ago
Singing "No opinion" is my stock answer.
presterjohn » pro 2 years ago
Recently I've been ending my days with thoughts similar to Beef's, though the object of my affection is usually gin.

Probably time to think about getting a better job ...
tim_simmons » neu 2 years ago
oh man me too. gin is boss when youre a twenty something student struggling to cope with the pressures of life in the inner city.
greenkoolayd » neu 8 months ago
you might have it easier in north korea. or iran.
bobbieluvsya » neu 2 months ago
You know, a new job won't cure depression.
lexsenthur » neu 2 years ago
Philippe has shown me how to react to most unnecessary political debates.

No opinion~~!
charchar » neu 2 years ago
It's like looking into the future (I will play the part of Cassandra "Roast Beef" Kazenzakis)
quaga » pro 1 years ago
The final panel is by far my favorite Beef quote of all time
tonyhighwind » neu 1 years ago
It is a thought that transcends Circumstances. Everyone has needed Jackie or Johnny or Jose to do them two favors at some point in their lives.
cyberia » pro 1 years ago
This is pretty much how I end my day every day.
boswelljn » pro 1 years ago
I love when Onstad suggests background music.

"Jackie D, Tuck me in and be my breakfast" has been added to my list of tattoo-able quotes.
scorpio_nadir » pro 3 months ago
Unfortunately, Beef from the Future- Nov. 2009 forgot all about Jackie Dee when he and Miss Lady had Philippe over for a day or so.
Beef- how could that happen?
greenkoolayd » neu 8 months ago
a 5 year old, having had no persuasion one way or the other, is most definitely apolitical. his(or her) heart is her compass.
mangtastic » neu 5 months ago
Or his or her mommy and daddy tell him or her that he or she should think this or that way about politics. I have heard bigoted 5 year olds, and they sure didn't get that way on their own.
greenkoolayd » neu 5 months ago
balls are round. what is up with THAT?
mangtastic » neu 5 months ago
hahaha DUDE I TOTALLY do not even KNOW, what is up with that?????
puguglypress » neu 8 months ago
No! (smiles)
aperson » neu 6 months ago
Phillipe is extra retar five-years-old in this strip.
vulpes-aurum » neu 4 months ago
The fact that Phillipe is singing "No opinion!" reminds me so much of Flapjack.
